Memories can't hold us together

My heart is sinking like the sun below the sea,
a green light flashes and it's gone,
a little glass of reassurance please, to help me breathe,
it shouldn't take this long.

I have a pale, but the water is passed my knees,
cause I've been bailing alone,
I'm caving in, this ship has gone out from under me,
I'm wasted skin and bone.

Memories can't hold us together,
I've been pushing and pulling and breaking for you,
I thought we'd survive any weather,
but though we're still here, I'm not dragging you through, anymore.

We need to build off each other
some common interest would serve as the glue,
but though we're tearing apart one another,
I'd still run through the fire for you.

My heart is sinking like the sun below the sea,
a green light flashes and it's gone,
a little glass of reassurance please, to help me breathe,
it really shouldn't have taken this long.
